Karlijn Korpershoek

Bonjour! I am Karlijn from the Netherlands and I have PhD in anthropology of space (yes, that really exists!) at the Jagiellonian University in Poland. 

I came to French Guiana in November 2022 for four months of research, but almost three years later I still haven’t left... 

I love the territory and am excited to share my experiences and research with you, which includes the impact of the launch site on local communities.  Initially living in Kourou, I now live in a “carbet” (large, open wooden structure found all around French Guiana so you will soon find out for yourself!) in the forest close to Saint Laurent du Maroni.

I am very excited to meet and get to know all of you and to get to experience this beautiful place together.
